Jhalar lighting along a balcony edge or building facade is what makes a street feel like Diwali. It is also, every year, one of the most common causes of festive electrical accidents — because it goes up quickly, high, often in a hurry, and usually onto whatever socket is nearest. We do the same job with proper fixings and a properly protected supply.
Height, access and doing it safely
Most jhalar accidents are falls, not shocks. Hanging lights from a parapet while leaning over it, or standing on a plastic chair on a balcony, is how people get hurt during Diwali week.
We bring proper access equipment and we work with the supply isolated. If a stretch of elevation genuinely cannot be reached safely, we say so and suggest a layout that can — a shorter run that looks good beats a long one nobody can reach to fix.
Never hang decorative lighting anywhere near an overhead service line or a pole-mounted connection. Keep well clear, and if the safe route is not obvious, do not improvise.
Feeding a long festive run
A single balcony set draws very little. A whole facade of jhalar plus a few motifs and a rope-light outline is a different matter, and it is easy to end up with several hundred watts hanging off one bedroom socket through a chain of extension boards.
We work out the total load first and feed it from a point that can carry it, with earth leakage protection ahead of it. Where the run is large we split it across more than one supply rather than pushing everything through one adaptor.

After the festival
Lights left up through the monsoon deteriorate fast — connectors corrode, insulation hardens and the next Diwali starts with a set that is no longer safe. Taking a run down properly and coiling it without kinks doubles its usable life.
We offer take-down as a separate visit. Customers who book it at the same time as installation usually get a better slot, because the week after Diwali is busy.

Jhalar questions we are asked most
How early should I book for Diwali?
At least a week or two ahead. The last three or four days before Diwali fill completely and we would rather turn work down than rush it.
Do you work on festival days themselves?
Yes, we keep the emergency line open through the festival period and take decorative work where we have capacity.
Can you use lights I already have?
Yes, if they are in sound condition. We check every set before hanging it and will tell you if a run should be replaced rather than reused.
Do you take the lights down afterwards?
Yes, as a separate visit. Book it along with the installation and we will schedule it for you.
